Our Mission Statement; The Florida Carnivorous Plant Society (FCPS), is a group of fellow CP enthusiasts world-wide, with an interest in preservation of ALL carnivorous plants and of their natural habitats. We consistantly monitor and report the well- being of our native carnivorous plant populations through field trips, extensive photography and field reports and frequent communication amongst our members, state-wide and around the globe... We also share our growing experiences, be it success or failure and freely share our knowledge with those who have interest. We welcome the most seasoned CP growers, along with the newest beginners to this wonderful, challenging world of CP cultivation, to join us.

With the recent economic recession which leads to cheaper land prices, prime CP habitats are more in danger now than ever. Many acres of land surrounding the delicate wetlands and bogs that support these remarkable plants are being drained and built upon at alarming rates. The future survival of our own....and of many other species is truly in our hands.

The Florida Panhandle is known across the world as one of the most diverse concentrations of different CP genera existing today. Our goal is to increase the overall public knowledge on how important it is to save these rapidly disappearing havens for these remarkable plants, therefore ensuring their existance for our future generations, while also enjoying them in cultivation.

The FCPS does not believe in harvesting these plants from the wild!

Many CP genera are now offered through propagation in cultivation. We encourage obtaining all plants from a like-minded, reputable dealer or trading with other growers. Links to reputable growers/nurseries can be found on the articles and links page.

We welcome you to join us! Membership is free.

Thank you and Happy Growing!
